That's about all the hints I can give you on painting, mate.
Try "copying" paintings that you like, as a way of understanding the style and technique. Really look hard at and study them before you start.
It's not really copying, academically it is called "Analysis Through Practise".
It's a hands-on technique of understanding painting.
